Critique the blog

Please post your comments and suggestions on how to improve the blog – layout, structure, appearance, functionality and content.

Our vision for the blog is to enable every user to freely post comments on the discussion topics and to comment on each others’ posts. We plan to add the capability of using rich multi-media content including, graphics, voice and video.

The reality is that we are selecting and testing themes (designs) for the blog from a library of pre-programmed templates. Each theme has pros and cons. We are unsure about how many desirable changes (many from your suggestions) we can accomplish with these templates, given our limited programming resources – but Swathy and Hema are working diligently on this.

The current blog design is a step in the direction of achieving our vision, as we pursue our commitment to continuously improve functionality, aesthetics and ease of use – leading to a “professional” quality experience. Thanks for your suggestions and contributions. Best wishes, PC.

  1. We should be able to upload attachments with our comments – I do not know what types and sizes?

I do know that links are possible (since they can be entered jas text in any event).

Swathy or Lou could answer the question on attachments?

  2. I agree with admin said.

It will good to see new posts on the top. Also since blog is done by the students will be anyway to sort by the user name?

I do like the light color background and page is very simple.

Also, will this blog allow us to upload attachments? It can be a limited in size

  3. Regarding comments – it is easier to see what new comments have been made if the newest comments appear at the bottom of the comment list. In this way, you don’t have to go back to the top and read your way down to the bottom of the list again and again to find new comments.

  4. I was wondering if all the comments will be placed under each other as they come along. If so, perhaps a Reply button would be advantageous to add comments to other posts.

Also, I had a little trouble navigating the blog at first but I got better over the few minutes I spent on here. Everything is new at one point!

  5. I am still looking around to be comfortable with the format of the blog – but it does seem a little more complicated than the average blog (ex: Xanga) which uses a thread design sort of like the BlackBoard discussion board
