What is the relationship between step two “Reality Check” and Step 10 “Assessment of Action” of Purposeful Action?

How do these steps relate to continuous quality improvement, or Kaizen?

Reality check is to relate the vision with the external realities so that it is practical and feasible and where as Assessment of action is a measurement and evaluation of the results of the action and comparison with goals. So Reality check performs analysis in an action that is to be taken, whereas Assessment is an adult result. CQI is an approach to quality management that builds upon traditional quality assurance methods by emphasizing the organization and systems, it majorly focuses on the “process” rather than the individual, recognizes both internal and external “customers” and promotes the need for objective data to analyze and improve processes. Kaizen means “improvement “and its strategy calls for never-ending efforts for improvement involving everyone in the organization. So in summary defining the relationship between the two, the reality check in step two will be performed before the decision to do an action is executed, while the assessment of action is to review the choice of action for the entire process.

At step two “Reality Check” we review our vision and check if it realistic with the vision and refine if need it with real achievable visions.
Step ten “Assessment of Action” is the Audit stage to evaluate the results and see if we achieved what we defined early in the process at step2 to a vision

Well put, Mirek. A dreamer cannot keep his or her head in the clouds; he/she must contend with reality and put their vision into action. Without doing so, a person may never grow in knowledge.

Yes, Mirek and Margaux, some examples: Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, and Mother Theresa…PC

Yes Josh, I agree! Martin Luther King is a great example how one can pursue its vision, even if the external circumstance go against you. Realistically, there are just not that many people like MLK and examples like this one. It takes a strong person to overcome these circumstances and still move forward with their vision. I was more referring to my job situations where, for example, I have a goal that I would like to pursue, but due to my status a lot of my ideas depand on my external environment to see how far I can get. Sometimes I just have to admit that it’s not feasible due to those circumstance I just talked about and must reconsider.
