Are politicians leaders or entrepreneurs?
Here is a systematic way to find out:

Consider any two prominent politicians - say, one from the US Congress and one from the US Senate - perhaps one Republican and one Democrat. Compare what the say they stand for with what they actually vote for and promote. Investigate how they were first elected and then re-elected, the money they collected and spent to get elected, where it came from, and how those donors fared. Consider the lobbyists with whom the politicians associate and what money exchanges occur. Examine the committees they work on and what comes out of those committees, and who benefits. Compare their assets before they were elected with what they accumulate over the years, over and above what their salary would suggest.
Play the BrookMaster Leadership Coaching Game, emulating the choices you believe each of these politicians would make. Which of the six archetypes (leader, entrepreneur, manager, consultant, trustee and intellectual) do you expect them to be? What would you expect their ethical balance to be in terms of their Giver/Taker ratio? Compare what you expect with the results you actually obtain from BrookMaster.
Now, go ahead and play !

Politicians are both leaders and entrepreneurs. Although all may not be both. Some may be both. And would transform into the right one at the right time. Look at Barack Obama; he had a vision of “Change” and was able to influence many people in our country. And I would say the Democrats are expressing their Entrepreneur archetype with the Stimulus package by taking advantage of the opportunity at hand. Risking tax dollars to support their programs with hopes (dreams) of bettering the US economy for you and me. But in the end they will not likely take responsibility for the debt.
Politicians are individuals, so they can assume the roles of any of the six archetypes, depending upon their character, circumstance and desires…so, one needs to consider each politician individually, as many in class have done, and evaluate them based upon one’s knowledge and impressions of the subjects… PC
To be honest, I knew Hillary Clinton from the list of leaders as we have heard a lot about her when we were back in India. I had to google on the others and then know about them. I think that’s the reason why many have opted for HC.
I agree with Mirek. I do not see many politicians been a giver. I think they’re takers.
Now Obama has been given a challenge to prove he is true great giver and that’ll be know by the decisions he takes to get US of A back to track the way it was.
And talking about the political leaders back in India, none of them are true givers. It’s difficult to even pen down 2 or 3 effective givers.

The politicians that I have selected are Ron Paul, a former Libertarian turned Republican, and former Democratic President Bill Clinton. I labeled each as leaders and felt that Clinton was a taker while Ron Paul was a giver. It turns out that good old Bill is actually a giver, much to my surprise.
