Is it enough to have purpose?

It is obviously essential for success to be purposeful in your actions in order to stay on track and fulfill the vision. But, what if it is not based on Truth and it’s hard to tell what THE Truth really is?
Is it worth rowing along in personal conviction if it is all based on Faith from within and personal interpretation of one route map to be followed in Life if fellow boaters do not acknowledge it and follow you down the same path?
In other words, is having a vision and pursuing it purposefully make Life whole, or is it more important to have the right vision & how do you discover it?
Explain, using examples and references, and relate your comments to the Four Principles for Purposeful Action.

To be fully engaged in our lives, we must be physically energized, emotionally connected, mentally focused, and spiritually aligned with a purpose beyond our immediate self-interest.”
– Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz, The Power of Full Engagement (2003)
Everyone has different levels of vision. You must define your true values and what is most important to you. The above quote reinforces the Nexus in the Brook of Life. This will bring your desire to serve and freedom which will please your body, mind, and spirit.

mmentgen, you are correct. Everyone has different levels of vision.”To be fully engaged in our lives, we must be physically energized, emotionally connected, mentally focused, and spiritually aligned with a purpose beyond our immediate self-interest.”” was 100% true.
I believe both statements are true, however purposeful decisions will always make your life more complete. An individual can make the right decisions in their life, but if they do not have a purpose the ultimate vision may never be reached.
Individuals and corporations leading the way toward a vision, will get there either way with or without purposeful actions. Although when these actions are not purposeful they are only carrying their success among themselves and not spreading it to others.
For example the career paths of two prominent leaders within a corporation. The first leader carefully follows each of their actions with a defined purpose, evaluating the ramifications of their actions for themselves, corporation, and others. This leader accomplishes everything they are assigned, satisfying there own requirements as well as others around them. The second leader provides little emphasis on evaluating their actions, just on actually performing the actions without concern for the others. They are only concerned with where they are going. This leader will accomplish and meet the requirements of his/her assignments, however during this process they have created new problems and disconnect within the corporation.
While I agree that you can reach your vision acting purposefully or not, I think the rewards you receive for following actions that are only self-serving will be short lived. I think eventually what goes around comes around and you will are far greater rewarded when putting others first. Sometimes it seems that those who don’t do right get their rewards quicker but I think in the long run someone acting purposefully has longer lasting rewards and are deeply fulfilled.

Here its says that purpose and direction are required to make count your efforts and courage. Not just having purpose not good enough. You have to believe in that purpose and have faith to carry the mission, otherwise your efforts are waisted.
Great quote by JFK. It speaks to the heart of the matter of purposeful action, that good intentions are not enough. People must channel their energy and efforts towards fulfilling their purpose.

A very inspirational qoute given by JFK, but did he believe it and write it or did a paid speech writer.
Words like those are meaningless unless acted upon, and how many really act on them
Nikki,
You have great point about believers of Bible. They live by faith everyday.
Venkat, i like this statement:As the Purposeful action is defined as a series of events or steps motivated by commitment to a mission.
Why look for reason
there is no cause
Why try to find a purpose
there may be none at all
Take whatever there is
and make the most
And if there is nothing
make your own
And while you are loving to live
a reason will become
and a purpose will appear
making all the more reason to go on

Sreesh Wonderfull explanition by Jeremy Frampton. Its nice. The purpose of life or what ever depends on an individual person. It differes from person to person.
Sreesh,
Thats a great poem, and it explains the clear meaning of purpose…
Man has always sought to determine the meaning of life; some seek out religions and other search within. People want to live a life driven by purpose as a way to pursue happiness. A successful and fulfilling life is achieved by acting with purpose. But purposefully action must derive from ethically sounded core values. True purpose is attained by freeing oneself from desires and serving others.

I totally agree with you observation. It is the journey that we all take to find our purpose that can be long and exhausting. I believe most look for the material things and it takes along time to realize that that is not the meaning of life.
